Support Us

In order to offer young people the opportunities and guidance they truly deserve, we need support from throughout the community – whether it be a generous investment from local businesses, or fundraising efforts in the local community, Vault Youth Zone is something that everyone can get involved in and be proud of for years to come.

Vault will be staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers who truly believe in young people– helping them see what they could achieve, and giving them the skills, confidence and ambition to go for it. First class youth work delivered in a first class facility seven days a week is what makes Vault unique. This is life-changing support helps tens of thousands of young people from a diverse range of backgrounds across Preston to thrive.

Our work with young people wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our corporate partners – our incredible Patrons. If you want to get involved, email Gaby Ingham on: gaby.ingham@vaultyz.org or find out more about becoming a Founder Patron.

Why does Preston need a Youth Zone?

Preston is a great city but nearly one in four young people live in poverty, with some areas seeing that number rising to one in three in recent years. It’s clear that greater support is needed and barriers to leading successful, happier and aspirational lives must be broken down.

Vault, Preston Youth Zone will be a vital provision that will make a huge difference to the lives of young people, and to the whole city, levelling the playing field for our young people.

  • Preston is in the 20% most deprived areas in England for health deprivation and disability
  • 29% of children are living in poverty/low-income households, this is higher than national, NW and Lancashire average
  • Preston has more fixed term exclusions (also known as suspensions) in secondary schools than the national, Northwest and Lancashire average.
  • The number of NEETS (young people not engaged in education, employment or training), are going up! Since October the number of young people in this category has increased by 38 and now stands at 141 young people.
  • Only 42% children doing 60 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per day Years 1-6 (aged 5-11)
