Vault Youth Zone, our highly anticipated new facility for young people in Preston, was thrilled to recently host an inspiring evening for a group of prospective supporters, offering a powerful glimpse into the future for young people in the city.
As part of the event, guests visited Warrington Youth Zone, which is also part of the Onside Network, for an immersive experience that showcased the incredible potential of these spaces. From the moment they stepped inside, guests witnessed the Youth Zone model in action: a space where young people are not passive participants but active members who take ownership, set high expectations, and take pride in their surroundings.
The mum of one of the young people who attended the event told us how transformational Youth Zones can be:
“I just wanted to thank you for getting involved with young people and to let you know that the impact on my daughter has had a very positive impact. She has loved being involved and we have loved seeing her evolve every time she gets involved. Lauren struggles with where she fits in at times and having the opportunity to be a part of events like tonight have such a significant impact to how she feels about herself and her capabilities and really makes a difference.
“She received some lovely comments and feedback and it has really boosted her confidence.”
Guests listened to a presentation from our Vault Young Leaders – a team of passionate and articulate young individuals from Preston who are investing in their community by volunteering their time. They were then treated to a three-course dinner prepared by Heathcote & Co, assisted and served by young people from Warrington Youth Zone. Some of these were trying their hand at this role for the very first time. Each course was introduced by a team member, who shared their experience while building confidence in a real-world setting — a powerful example of what these spaces can facilitate.
Most importantly, the evening showcased the vibrant culture of ownership and enthusiasm among the young people. With no screens in sight, the building buzzed with energy, conversation, and the joy of participation. Volunteers eagerly took the opportunity to engage in activities, and laughter and confidence filled every corner.
Vault Youth Zone, opening later this year, will provide thousands of young people across Preston with a safe, inspiring place to belong, have fun, and discover their potential. In an era where youth loneliness, digital pressures, and limited access to opportunities are becoming increasingly prevalent, Youth Zones are proving to be a much-needed solution — one that is both transformative and impactful and built to grow.
We’re proud to build something special for the young people of Preston — and we invite local businesses, individuals, and philanthropists to join us in our journey. Founder Patrons play a crucial role in our success, and this event celebrated what’s possible when a community unites to support its young people.
